Starting out in his parents’ garage
In 1992, Thomas Scherer began converting his parents’ garage into a workshop run as a hobby. This is where he would tinker and work on projects after work.

Establishment of a professional workshop
It soon became clear that the small, makeshift hobby workshop would not be sufficient in the future. This was because the good ideas that had once been conceived after work were also popular with many others. So, in 1994, Claudia Scherer’s parents’ stables were converted into a professional workshop and S&Ü GbR was founded.

S&Ü Hydraulik- und Maschinenbau GmbH is founded
The initial four employees in 1994 grew to eight within two years. The original customer base, which consisted mainly of farmers and businesses from the local area, grew rapidly and the company’s profile rose steadily, leading to the formation of S&Ü Hydraulik und Maschinenbau GmbH at the end of 1996.

Expansion into specialised mechanical engineering
As the customer base continued to grow, so too did the demands placed on the company. Consequently, alongside machine repair and maintenance, the company expanded into specialised mechanical engineering, a field in which S&Ü Hydraulik und Maschinenbau GmbH made a further name for itself.

Hall No. 1 is built as the first expansion of the premises
Due to the increasing volume of orders in the special-purpose machinery sector, the first expansion of the premises took place in 2003 with the construction of a production hall. Furthermore, the first machines had already been delivered abroad.

Construction of further production halls
High demand meant more space was needed. Two further production halls and an adjoining building were subsequently constructed.

Gaining new customers across Europe
In 2010, S&Ü Hydraulik und Maschinenbau GmbH had already succeeded in gaining numerous customers in other European countries. These include countries such as Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Romania.

A global customer base takes shape
S&Ü Hydraulik und Maschinenbau GmbH currently develops, manufactures and assembles its products successfully with a workforce of almost 50 employees across what has now become six production areas. We are proud to have sold our first machine globally in 2019 and always work in line with our motto: “We turn your ideas into machines”.

Growing into a sought-after mechanical engineering company over 30 years
What once began as a small part-time business has, over the course of 30 years, developed into a sought-after medium-sized mechanical engineering company.
Since the company’s anniversary year, Johanna Scherer has been a member of the management team. Together with her father, Thomas Scherer, and three other long-serving executives, she forms a tightly knit management team that is shaping the future of S&Ü with a focus on stability, reliability and quality.
